The penetration bitumen, viscosity bitumen and performance bitumen have a long shelf-life, 3 to 15 years, but bitumen emulsion and cut back shelf-life is approximately 6 months.
When water comes into contact with hot bitumen, a powerful reaction occurs.This is because when water is heated to the temperature of the bitumen, it vaporises and expands.
Bitumen is produced through the distillation of crude oil and also occurs naturally. Bitumen is known for its waterproofing and adhesive properties.
